Dental Implants and Bridges in Burke, VA

Missing teeth can impact your daily life, making eating, speaking, and smiling difficult. Many patients also feel that gaps between their teeth affect their self-esteem and social lives. When you are facing a tooth extraction or looking to improve your smile's function and appearance, we are here to help give you your smile back!

At Burke Dental Center, our exceptional clinical care and focus on patient education will help you make a choice that works best for your smile and lifestyle.

Dental Implants – The Gold Standard in Tooth Replacement

older man with dental implants in burke vaDental implants replace the entire tooth, including the root, making it the ideal solution to restore your smile. When you replace the tooth root with a dental implant, you can expect stability and longevity over other forms of tooth replacement.

Dental implants can replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, or even complete arches. Dental implants can also slow or stop bone loss, a common side effect of tooth loss. This can help you avoid an aged, sunken appearance and prevent additional tooth loss associated with bone deterioration.

Dr. Khan is the premier implant dentist in Burke, VA, and will thoroughly evaluate your oral health to determine if you are a candidate for dental implants. He will review your options with you, indicating whether you'll benefit from additional treatments such as sinus augmentation or bone grafting to improve your outcome.

The Dental Implant Procedure

The dental implant process is relatively straightforward.

  • Dental implant placement
  • Healing and integration
  • Natural-looking restoration (dental implant crown, bridge, or denture)

The entire process can take several months, and the procedure is tolerated well by most patients with minimal discomfort and swelling post-procedure. Dr. Khan will guide you through the entire process by answering your questions and helping you through the healing process every step of the way.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is an alternative tooth replacement option that literally "bridges" the gap in your smile. Dental bridges work best for patients who need or want a non-surgical option.

Dental bridges require crowns fixed over adjacent teeth to support an attached artificial tooth, completing your smile. Bridges can be metal, gold, porcelain, or a combination of materials. Dr. Khan will discuss the choices with you and help you weigh your options. Most people prefer a tooth-colored alternative, especially if the bridge is visible when smiling.

Implant-Supported Bridges

We can combine the stability of dental implants with dental bridges to replace an entire section of missing teeth as an alternative to a removable partial denture.

Implant Reconstruction, All-on-X, Teeth in a Day

All-on-x teeth replacement is a revolutionary dental procedure designed for individuals suffering from extensive tooth loss or decay, offering a comprehensive and permanent solution. This innovative treatment involves strategically placing four or more dental implants in the jawbone, serving as a sturdy foundation for a full arch of prosthetic teeth.

What sets this procedure apart is its ability to provide immediate results, enhancing the aesthetic appearance and the functional aspect of a patient's smile.

Dental Implants and Bridges Technology

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Dental anxiety is incredibly common, which is why we offer nitrous oxide sedation to take the edge off of treatment and help patients relax. Nitrous oxide is safe for most patients because it enters and leaves the body quickly. Unlike stronger forms of sedation, patients can continue their regular routines without the need for someone to drive them home after treatment.

We administer nitrous oxide, sometimes called laughing gas, through a small nose mask. Nitrous oxide blended with oxygen is delivered until treatment is complete. Then, we discontinue the nitrous and administer pure oxygen. Patients should feel no effect after several minutes and leave feeling stress-free and comfortable.
