Digital Dental X-Rays
Digital dental x-rays are an innovation that improves safety and accuracy in diagnosis. At Burke Dental Center, we have taken this one step further by introducing handheld digital x-ray devices for greater accuracy and speed when obtaining diagnostic imaging.
Since we store digital dental x-rays in your records, Dr. Khan can compare small changes over time and get ahead of many common dental issues before they become significant problems that are more complex and often more costly to treat.
As an added bonus, digital x-rays are better for the environment since they eliminate the need for chemicals to develop film and manage their disposal.

Intraoral Camera
Have you ever tried to look in your own mouth to see what's going on in there? It can be a challenge! Even with a mirror, it can be tough to see what your dentist sees. We find that the more patients know and understand their oral health, the better choices they make for the longevity of their smiles.
We use intraoral cameras to show patients exactly what Dr. Khan can see. Whether it is a cracked tooth, cosmetic issue, or even excess plaque buildup at the gumline, these high-resolution images are available for you to review with Dr. Khan. The best part about intraoral images is that the camera is small — about the size of a pen — so it is a non-invasive way to capture your mouth's condition.
When insurance companies request additional information to approve a claim, intraoral images can be a powerful tool to maximize your benefits.

Panoramic X-Rays
Just as individual x-rays reveal specific information about a patient's health, such as decay, cracked teeth, or even infection, panoramic x-rays give us a big-picture view of oral health.
Panoramic x-rays capture the entire smile in a single radiograph. The pano machine will rotate around the head while the patient stands still. The image will show the teeth and their roots, bone levels, biological landmarks, jaw joints, and any cysts or tumors.
Panoramic x-rays are especially beneficial for:
- Invisalign® treatment planning
- Denture treatment
- Dental implants
- Extractions
We base the need for a panoramic x-ray on each patient's specific needs.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Dental anxiety is incredibly common, which is why we offer nitrous oxide sedation to take the edge off of treatment and help patients relax. Nitrous oxide is safe for most patients because it enters and leaves the body quickly. Unlike stronger forms of sedation, patients can continue their regular routines without the need for someone to drive them home after treatment.
We administer nitrous oxide, sometimes called laughing gas, through a small nose mask. Nitrous oxide blended with oxygen is delivered until treatment is complete. Then, we discontinue the nitrous and administer pure oxygen. Patients should feel no effect after several minutes and leave feeling stress-free and comfortable.

Digital Records
Digital records make monitoring oral health changes over time far easier. With a few clicks on the computer, Dr. Khan can review previous x-rays, intraoral images, periodontal scores, and bone levels to detect changes.
In addition to their convenience, digital records are safer. We keep private information behind encryption for greater security.

TVs in Treatment Rooms
Having a distraction at the dentist is a welcome addition to many patients' treatment experiences. We have televisions in our exam rooms for patients to enjoy a favorite show, movie, or program while we look after their smiles.

Noise-Canceling Headphones
One of the chief complaints from patients who experience dental anxiety is that they don't like the sound of the electric handpieces we use to prep teeth for treatment, which is why we offer noise-canceling headphones for a more relaxed experience in the dental chair. Patients can choose their favorite music or podcast to drift into another (quieter) world while we provide exceptional dental care.

Rotary Endodontics
One of the areas in which technology has helped dentistry the most is rotary endodontics. Instead of hand files, which can be slow and cause friction, rotary endodontic handpieces use a flexible titanium tip to clean out infected material inside the tooth's canal. This makes treatment significantly faster and more comfortable. Rotary endo also improves outcomes, reducing the need for re-treatment.

Digital Impressions
Say goodbye to gooey, sticky impression paste and hello to digital impressions! Using a small, handheld scanner, we can capture digital impressions for Invisalign® treatment, mouthguards and nightguards, and restorative dentistry. Most patients find the digital scanning technique far superior to old-fashioned alginate because it is more comfortable, reducing any gag reflex.
